MEXICO DESTINATION WEDDING ON ISLA MUJERES: BRENDA & COREY

When Brenda, a former Brides Magazine photo editor, and her fiance Corey, a photographer from New York, asked me to document their wedding in Mexico, I was elated to revisit the place where I’d lived for a year when I was 15. Isla Mujeres is a tranquil island off the coast of the Riviera Maya, where so much has changed in the two decades since, yet the beaches are as pristine and beautiful as I’d remembered.

Brenda and Corey rented scooters to zip around the island during their multi-day celebration. The Zama Beach Club was a perfect venue for its modern vibe and secludedness, and local planner Juliette Franzé made their destination wedding easy to plan from New York City. Personal touches included hand-dyed embroidered napkins and welcome bags. Brenda’s dear friend Mary Fama designed all the colorful paper goods, including matching stamps for their invitations. Their heartfelt ceremony was under a bamboo arch draped in white silk with florals designed by Vanessa Jaimes, who also created her striking bouquet. The Mariachi Band got the evening started, and it was truly an unforgettable one.
